Notebookcheck have tested the affordable Intel Alder Lake and Intel Raptor Lake processors, which are very attractive due to their price and performance.
Schenker has announced that the Vision 15 is now available with a CPU upgrade. The thin-and-light laptop still has a 15.6-inch FHD touchscreen, but can now be ordered with an Alder Lake platform. This E23 version also comes with LPDDR5 RAM and Wi-Fi 6E for the first time.
As the name suggests, Schenker pitches the WORK series of laptops as all-rounders for the office. Its latest 15- and 17-inch variants now have refreshed mid-2022 (M22) models with 12th-gen Intel Core i5 or i7 processors. Therefore, they still have Thunderbolt 4 and up-to-date security features, yet are rated for "significantly" improved performance over their Tiger Lake-H35-based predecessors.
Lenovo uses Alder Lake P28 in its new ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 10. These new processors with an increased core count seem impressive on paper, but they do not hold up to scrutiny in practice.
We had to wait quite a while but we finally got our hands on AMD’s latest mobile processors from the Ryzen 6000U generation. We compare the Zen3+ cores of the new Ryzen 7 6800U with Intel’s current Alder Lake-P platform as well as Apple’s M1 Pro SoCs. Who builds the best chip for compact laptops?
Mobility is everything with the Galaxy Book at just 13.3 inches: light, thin, long battery life and a high-contrast OLED display - nothing is left to be desired. Only the i5-1240P with 12 cores and 16 threads can hardly show what it's made of.
MSI has revealed the CreatorPro M series, consisting of 15-inch, 16-inch and 17-inch models. While the trio feature new NVIDIA RTX GPUs, they have different processors, displays and I/O. The CreatorPro M15, M16 and M17 all start at €1,599, though.
MSI has revealed a refreshed Prestige 14 EVO, a 14-inch laptop now based on Intel Alder Lake processors. Starting at US$929, the Prestige 14 EVO will cost up to US$1,299 with a Core i7-1280P, 32 GB of RAM and a 1 TB SSD.
The new Spectre variant apparently has no effect on AMD's processors, yet it continues to affect Intel's processors ranging from Haswell up to Alder Lake, whereas ARM's affected products include the Cortex A15 / A57 / A72 cores plus Neoverse server-grade processors models V1, N1 and N2.
Alleged photos of what appear to be Rocket Lake and Alder Lake processors are now doing the rounds around the interwebs. The information on the IHS is masked for obvious reasons, but we see that the Alder Lake processor is taller than current Comet Lake parts possibly to accommodate the additional 500 pins.
An Intel Alder Lake processor showed up on CapFrameX's database running DOTA2. On average, the game ran at 189 FPS, which is somewhat low, given that it isn't particularly resource-heavy. It could have happened due to DOTA2's inability to recognize Alder Lake's core configuration properly.
A South Korean Tech forum post claims that Intel's 12th-generation Alder Lake processors are 40% slower than initially anticipated. It also says that Intel's Xe DG2 HPG graphics cards will come with at least 6GB of VRAM and cost less than Nvidia and AMD alternatives.
The latest Coreboot update has provided concrete details about the power limits of Intel's 12 generation laptop processors. While some of the company's Alder Lake processors will have a 45 W TDP, they will be able to consume up to 215 W in the short term. Alder Lake should offer Tiger Lake levels of efficiency, though.
Tipster @KOMACHI_ENSAKA spotted an Intel filing on the SATA-IO website highlighting PCH compliance for both Alder Lake and 13th-gen Raptor Lake parts. This is one of the earliest appearances of Intel’s post-Alder Lake platform, and likely the first alongside Alder Lake.
One of the more outlandish claims includes information about the Q4 Alder Lake supply that is expected to be limited to only 300,000 units, which would lead to significantly increased prices. Things are getting really iffy when the Chinese leaker starts explaining that the big.LITTLE hybrid core architecture does not work on Windows 10, where the big cores are completely disabled, then he drops the bomb stating that DDR5 RAM kits need to be overclocked to at least 8000 MT/s in order to notice any performanc
Gigabyte has released a new tool to fix DRM issues on Intel Alder Lake processors. Due to the presence of E-cores on 12th gen Intel CPUs, some games were performing poorly. The tool disables E-cores without needing the user to go to the BIOS.
MSI has revealed its new gaming systems with Intel's most recent 12th Gen Alder Lake processors. The desktops also feature DDR5 memory and high-end NVIDIA GPUs. The three new models announced are the MEG Aegis Ti5, MEG Trident X and MAG Codex X5.
Tipster @momomo_us recently shared what appear to be Canadian store listings for the Pentium Gold G7400 and the Celeron G6900. It is possible that these chips are lower-end Alder Lake parts, but a lack of further information means that they may well be refreshes of previous-gen 14nm silicon.
According to a new leak, Iris Pro iGPUs could return this year in Alder Lake Mobile processors. Intel's new GT3 iGPUs will probably only arrive in a few laptop processors, though.
